5 Tips: Creating Powerful Presentations for Your Local Business ...

Posted on by Chris Marentis

Whether you?re presenting offline or online for your local business, getting in front of people with a powerful presentation is a great way to:

  • Build credibility
  • Boost brand awareness
  • Generate leads

And it doesn?t matter if you?re presenting at a live seminar, training, or industry event, or you?re posting a webinar that can be played later at a user?s leisure, there?s one thing you must make sure of: that you have a professional and powerful presentation that leads a lasting impression and keeps consumers coming back to find out more about your business or purchase from you.

To create an impactful presentation to support your local business, use the following tips:

  1. Define your purpose: Are you looking to educate and inform? Are you training a team? Are you presenting about your company? Be very clear as to why your creating your presentation before you begin so you can lay out a clear roadmap to the finish line.
  2. Be specific and to-the-point: You want your presentation to stay on topic and provide just the right amount of information to get your point across, whatever that may be. At the same time, it?s always good to include supporting stories and case studies to make a point.
  3. Include Images and visuals: No matter what you?re doing, it seems that images and visuals help capture your audience?s attention, as well as provides an interesting element and dimension to your presentations. If every slide has an image, it?s not too much by any means, and if it makes sense, as slide could have 2 or more images. The images and visuals should be relevant to the topic on each slide.
  4. Don?t be too wordy on the page: Leave the words for the notes section and speak to them. Don?t include long sentences in a presentation. Assuming you?re using PowerPoint or slides of some sort, the slides should have a lot of white space, and the bullet points should be clear and easily readable for the medium you?re using. Use bullet points and try to leave a space between each line item.
  5. Use keywords: Use specific keywords that support your local business throughout the presentation when it makes sense. This isn?t to boost search engine rankings directly, but indirectly. By providing keywords, they will be fresh in the viewers mind so when they look for you online, they?ll hopefully type in those keywords and find you!
  6. Include a call-to-action: Use a call-to-action with a link or directions at the end of every presentation, even if it?s as simple as visiting your local business website.
  7. Post it online with keywords: Once you?ve presented, if possible, post your presentation online and use a keyword within the URL to help with SEO. This also allows for others to visit the presentation, and gives you content to blog about, Tweet about, post on your website, etc.

Every local business owner will need to present at some point, and whether it?s a 5 minute presentation or a 60 minute one, these tips hold true to help make it the best presentation possible for your local business so you can leave a lasting impression (and a good one!).
