The familiar EOS-1D C isn't the only Canon camera to make its public debut ahead of NAB. The Cinema EOS series welcomes a third model to the collection this week, with looks that nearly match last year's C300. Unlike that model, which you can already pick up through e-tailers and at specialty shops, the C500 has a long way to go before it gets a shipping nod -- it may not even make it to market in 2012. The $30,000 price tag may pose an even greater barrier to entry than its to-be-announced availability date, however, and may in need of some tweaking before it's ready to compete with already established models, like the much less expensive RED Scarlet. Like the 1D C, the C500 can shoot 4K video -- the most apparent upgrade from the $16,000 C300. To that end, boosting its price tag may be the only way for Canon to avoid cannibalizing that less-abled flavor, since many cinematographers would otherwise pay little attention to the C300, due in part to its 1080p-limited shooting capabilities.
It's been a few months since we've last seen Canon's first Cinema EOS model, but the C500 has a look and feel that seems to be only subtly different from the C300. It is noticeably heavier, likely due to the additional cooling gear on board to accommodate 4K shooting. Both flavors include dual CF card slots, which you'll only be able to use for snapping 1080p video -- 4K is fed to an external recorder through the dual 3G-SDI ports, which for obvious reasons you won't find on the C300. There's also a larger grip on board, now a permanent fixture on the C500, which should aid with bare-bones handheld shoots -- but if you're dropping 30 grand on a digital body, some sticks and a dolly shouldn't be far behind. Like its sibling, this year's model ships with either a Canon EOS or industry standard PL mount, so if you have a need for both, you'll need two cameras. Overall, you're looking at the same sleek, albeit slightly unconventional body design, with a price tag that's likely to make amateurs weep and pros run for the rental house. As always, there's a hands-on video waiting just past the break.

For football fans the NFL Red Zone and ESPN Goal Line Channels have streamlined game day viewing by focusing on switching between scoring opportunities from simultaneously airing games and now Major League Baseball has its own version (there's already a web edition dubbed Full Count). The MLB Network Strike Zone went live Tuesday night on Bright House Networks, DirecTV, Dish Network and Time Warner Cable, airing live look-ins on league games and highlights without any commercial breaks. Although there are baseball games throughout the week, Strike Zone will only broadcast on Tuesday and Friday nights during the regular season. We're not entirely convinced this will work as well as baseball or cause people to sign up for the sports tiers it seems to mostly be placed on the same way its football counterparts have, but it might be just the thing for baseball fans that can't stand following just one game at a time. I can remember a simpler day, when video games had no more than four buttons, as many sounds and just one color. (Yes, I am old.) And that's why I'm a little stocked to see another iteration of the original 1978 Mattel Football game hit Android.
LED Football is a pretty faithful recreation, available now in the Amazon Appstore. (It's currently listed at $1.99.) And when we say pretty faithful, we're just talking about the buttons. It's also goto simulated button wear (ahhhhhh, remember those days?) and an option to pull the battery (of the football game, not the phone) to reset the game.

ATLANTAApril 10, 2012A new supplement in the journal Cancer outlines an innovative model to address a wide range of physical issues faced by women with breast cancer and offers hope for improved function and full participation in life activities for patients through rehabilitation and exercise. A panel of experts proposes a prospective surveillance model (PSM) that could reduce the incidence and severity of breast cancer treatment-related physical impairments. The model was developed over the past year by a panel of internationally known experts, with the support of the American Cancer Society and input from national healthcare professional organizations and advocacy groups.
The supplement says the current model of care for people with breast cancer focuses on treatment of the disease, followed by ongoing surveillance to detect recurrence. That approach, says the supplement, lacks attention to patients' physical and functional well-being. Breast cancer patients experience common impairments including pain, fatigue, upper extremity dysfunction, lymphedema, weakness, joint arthralgia, neuropathy, weight gain, cardiovascular effects, and osteoporosis. And even when these impairments lead to functional limitation, rehabilitation referral is lacking.
The supplement points to evidence that supports the implementation of a prospective surveillance model for early identification and treatment of physical impairments that may prevent or mitigate many of these functional concerns as well as provide a venue to point patients towards exercise and other health promoting activities. The goals of the model are to promote surveillance for common breast cancer-related physical impairments and functional limitations, to provide education to facilitate early identification of impairments, to introduce rehabilitation and exercise intervention when physical impairments are identified, and to promote and support physical activity and exercise behaviors through the trajectory of disease treatment and survivorship.
The PSM is ultimately coordinated with disease treatment from diagnosis through follow-up to create a more comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach to survivorship care. The purpose of the supplement is to invite consideration of the model as a means to achieve reduced impairment, improved function, and increased participation in exercise.
Support for this meeting and supplement was provided by the American Cancer Society through The Longaberger Company, a direct selling company offering home products including handcrafted baskets made in Ohio, and the Longaberger Horizon of Hope Campaign, which provided a grant to the American Cancer Society for breast cancer research and education.

This allows employees?to communicate and share files with one another. Considering that time is money, they need?to?have the ability for instant?communication.?This is important because?companies?often need?to?access?business-related emails, maintain websites, respond?to?orders from customers, communicate with employees at other locations and maintain contact with suppliers.

This is a real-time video conference that may be a two-way conference or a presentation made?to?several parties simultaneously. The presenter can display charts, graphs, graphics, PowerPoint presentations, spreadsheets and other data. The presenter can also get feedback and answer questions from the participants.?Companies?can use this tool for lectures, meetings and training. It is much less costly than meeting?in?person with employees or other involved parties from around the country or around the world. This too allows for recording and playback for later reference and it enables the presenter?to?know who attended the web meeting, as well as who accessed and played back the recording.
With all this?in?mind, it is obvious that for most?companies, the days of cross-country and international flights are over. That makes?broadband?cost-effective?for any?businessthat has?to?train employees or meet with customers and suppliers. Additionally, it saves money by saving time for office employees who must access, download or upload information quickly. Many good internet service providers?in?my area offer excellent?broadband?packages for?business?customers and most of them offer introductory pricing offers.
